April Paterson began writing as an outlet for the creativity she restrained as a result of the mundane every day. She completed her Bachelors in Mass Communications with a focus in Creative Advertising, but it didn't lead her to a job that allowed her to follow her passion. So she stepped out on faith and decided to tell the world about a story that she had been dreaming up for years.
Paterson had the opportunity to attend a private school at a young age, and it was there that she learned about the sons of God and daughters of men. At her young age, it was fascinating. But as she grew older her fascination turned into dreams and imagination. It was then that she decided on the topic of her Cast series. She decided to bring her imagination to life through the story of Tristan and Lina. Her outlet soon became her ultimate passion and completely changed her goals, and her life.
In 2008, April began outlining the story Lina and Tristan.
In 2010, she not only continued her story, but she also began to fantasize about the opportunity to tell others her story. She took a deep breath, pushed down the butterflies in her stomach, and asked her brother to read a portion. She received raving reviews…and not just because he was her brother. The threats he received for providing dis-honest feedback were enough to have any iron-fisted cruel tyrant cowering on their knees.
In 2012, she was ready for the manuscript to be read by a friend. One day later she received shocking reviews. “I loved it.” “I fell in love with your characters.” “I wanted to go do research afterwards to learn more about Nephilim!”
In 2013, she entered a contest, and received great feedback. Afterward though, she took some time to make a few changes based on that feedback.
In March of 2014, Paterson began to query agents.
In June of 2014, Paterson took a step back, and hired an editor.
In October of 2015, Paterson published her book.

About My Header
My header incorporates bits and pieces that relate to me. The graphic is of a woman with items entangled in her hair. The base of the picture (the woman) is a picture of me :)!!! The hair is not my hair...but it is an exaggeration of my hair. It holds within it a Rose, a Compass, and a Book as a hat. Within the roots is a Feather Pen. The Rose is a symbol of my novel Cast. It was a great accomplishment, and it is a must read in order to find out why there is a colorful rose on the cover. The Compass symbolizes the direction that I'm headed. Like Captain Jack Sparrow, it points towards what I want. And I want to write. The Book on my head (with pages that create a heart) is what I love to do. I love to read. The Pen entangled in the roots means that I am a writer at my roots. And I will always be a writer.
