Emelina Rose is one of the few residents of Wells, a small mundane town in Maine. Knowing all of the locals wasn’t possible, but recognizing them was, and she would’ve known if she’d ever seen his face before. Her small town becomes intoxicatingly interesting as the mysteriously captivating face shows up again as a new student at her school. She soon realizes that he is something more than human.
Tristan Bello possesses Emelina at first sight. After being unable to deny his own forbidden desires, he risks exposing the secret of his identity and they teeter on the edge of danger to satisfy desires that could yield grave consequences. Just as Lina gets what she most wants, she is pulled into his secret world and she jeopardizes much more than she ever knew she had to risk. The Cast Series Book 1 From the first day I put pen to paper, Cast was the only thing on my mind. Well, the book was because I honestly had no idea what I wanted to call it. Being in creative advertising taught me to sit and pretty much word vomit (sorry mom, I know you hate that word.) So that’s what I did, and because of my obsessive qualities, I must say, I didn’t move any further until I had decided upon a name. It took a bit more time for my characters however, so for a while Tristan and Lina were called He and She. Finally, I decided on names for them, and the next day a very strange thing happened. Bello was my prize last name. I completely fell in love with it, so I remember every detail around it. While I worked that very next day, a customer approached me in a panic because a Peter Bello left a voicemail in regards to additional banking products that would be a better fit for her. I repeated the name back to her, and stared for a moment which I’m sure sent up more red flags in her head. After a moment, I composed myself, and continued to help her, but it was something that I would never be able to forget. Not too long after that, I decided on a setting for my story. I wanted a small town near the beach. I’ve always wanted to take a road trip through Maine’s quaint towns, so I decided to search in Maine for a town I could use for my story. At this time, let me promise you that I am not making this up, nor am I crazy…I promise. That week, after I decided my setting would be in Wells, ME, I’d come down with some sort of cold. While waiting at my local doctor’s office, a polite nurse stepped through the door and calls for a Mrs. Wells. Needless to say my attention had definitely been caught, and at that point I decided to see this book all the way through. From that point on my allegiance was to Tristan and Lina, because apparently they were sending me signs. Every chance I got, I wrote – during the day at work, at night when my then-boyfriend slept (that’s right, then-boyfriend. I wore him down, and now he’s my husband!!!). At the beach...while visiting my parents...anywhere I could write, I did. When I felt like I had enough, I begged my younger brother to read it and give me an honest critique. His encouragement to keep going was more than enough. And so I did. Excited that I finally finished it, I sent a couple of chapters to a co-worker of mine, who quickly became my sissah (yes that’s a made up word, but she gets it.) To my surprise, she wrote back the same day asking for more chapters. And so I sent them to her as fast as I could edit them. The next day, exhausted from editing and over the hill excited because someone actually loved it, she’d finished the whole book. I ventured into unknown territories when I decided to let my brother’s girlfriend read it. She was directly in my target audience. Score, another one read it in a day’s time, and double-score – more great reviews. Then came the hard part; my mother. She is my biggest, scariest critic. She won't sugar coat anything for me when it comes to writing. She's a writer herself so she's extremely critical. I could see the red pen in her hand, ready to put some sort of mark on every single page. But it never happened. My mother liked my book. (Holy...well, you know) |
